Telecel DigiTech Academy Showcases Innovation; 500 Learners Graduate in 4th Cohort

The Telecel Ghana Foundation has graduated 500 young learners from the fourth cohort of its DigiTech Academy across five regions. The graduation ceremonies, which brought together members of parliament, district education directors, chiefs, community leaders, teachers and parents, were held in Yendi in Northern, Sawla in Savannah, Gambaga in North East, Effiakuma in Western and Enchi in Western North regions.

The Telecel DigiTech Academy is designed for upper primary and junior high school students, who complete a 12-week after-school programme in robotics, coding, web design and mobile application development.

Telecel Ghana has unveiled the ten outstanding final-year female students selected for the 2026 cohort of its Female Engineering Students Scholarship Programme (FESSP), an early career development programme aimed at increasing female representation in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field.

The female scholars, drawn from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the University of Ghana (UG), the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), were selected through a competitive process that assessed academic excellence, leadership potential and industry readiness.

Telecel Expands Ashanti Impact, Adopts Kumasi South Mother and Baby Unit

In the climax of its month-long Ashanti Month celebration, Telecel Ghana, through the Telecel Ghana Foundation, has donated critical newborn medical equipment to the Kumasi South Hospital and signed an agreement to adopt the hospital’s Mother and Baby Unit for the next two years.

The medical equipment includes two Firefly Phototherapy Units for the treatment of neonatal jaundice, a Wall Baby Radiant Warmer for premature and low-birth-weight infants and an Infant Digital Weighing Scale for accurate growth monitoring.

Senior leadership of telecommunications multinational, Telecel Group, has paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to reaffirm their long-term commitment to investing in Ghana’s digital infrastructure and supporting national development.

The visit provided an opportunity to update the President on Telecel’s business and investment plans in Ghana’s telecommunications sector.
