The Naija December Experience” Set to Dazzle at Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2025, December 20–21

Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) is set to storm Lagos with a vibrant two-day style carnival—an immersive blend of runway spectacles, designer pop-ups, musical showcases, creative workshops and late-night celebrations honoring African artistry and cultural expression.

AFWN has officially unveiled the theme for its 2025 edition: “The Naija December Experience.”

Scheduled for December 20 and 21, 2025, this year’s event marks a powerful return, reimagining Africa’s largest fashion platform as a dynamic, city-wide festival designed to elevate the creative pulse of Lagos.

Far more than a traditional fashion showcase, The Naija December Experience expands AFWN into a multi-layered celebration. Guests will encounter curated catwalk presentations from both seasoned and emerging designers, a bustling marketplace for fashion entrepreneurs, energetic DJ sessions, live musical sets, sustainability-driven fashion installations, and exclusive after-hours festivities that highlight Lagos’ legendary nightlife and hospitality scene.

“Fashion speaks identity, and Africa’s long-muted stories deserve to resonate across the world,” said Queen Aderonke ‘Ronke’ Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, Founder of AFWN. “With The Naija December Experience, we’re transforming Lagos into a creative playground—where heritage, innovation, trade and celebration converge seamlessly.”

Under the guidance of Queen Ronke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi—renowned advocate of African creativity and founder of Africa Fashion Week London as well as the Adire Oodua Textile & Training Hub—AFWN has cultivated a reputation for spotlighting rising talent and weaving fashion together with culture, empowerment, and economic relevance. Her vision positions AFWN not merely as a runway spectacle but as a driving force for industry growth, artistic dialogue, and cultural elevation.

Over the years, AFWN has served as a springboard for designers from Nigeria and across the continent. More than 3,000 creators have graced AFWN’s platforms, collectively attracting over 90,000 guests, including buyers, media, and industry stakeholders. For 2025, the experience is being reinvented to go beyond conventional fashion week expectations and offer immersive, festival-style programming.

The Naija December Experience is our bold declaration that fashion is celebration, enterprise, and culture all at once,” said Elizabeth Igwe, Communications & PR Director for AFWN 2025. “This edition reconnects designers, buyers, creatives and global visitors in a vibrant festival environment—one that elevates new narratives and expands commercial pathways for African designers.”

Attendance is free of charge, though advance registration is mandatory for crowd coordination, logistics, and safety management. Details regarding designer applications, volunteer enrollment, and accreditation will be released via AFWN’s official website and social platforms.
