Byline: Voice of Africa Online News Desk
The High Court in Accra has granted GH¢10 million bail with two sureties to Manhyia South MP and lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, following his formal arraignment by prosecutors and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The MP, who voluntarily surrendered to EOCO on October 1, 2026, accompanied by his legal team led by Samuel Atta Akyea, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Key Details of the Case
The state’s case centers on an ongoing EOCO investigation into past legal transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans.
The charges preferred against him include:
Criminal Conspiracy
Dissipation of Public Funds
Causing Financial Loss to the State
Money Laundering
Tax-Related Offences
His legal team maintains that all transactions under review were legitimate professional fees for legal services rendered.
Court Proceedings & Next Steps
Justice Charity Akosua Asem admitted the MP to bail in the sum of GH¢10 million with two sureties.
This ruling comes after days of public friction following an initial attempted arrest at the court on September 23, leading to his voluntary appearance at EOCO headquarters earlier this week.
The case has been adjourned to October 26, 2026, for continuation.
