Man Nabbed for Allegedly Slaying Partner in Rage Fueled by Smoking Dispute

Police in the Ashanti Region have taken 27-year-old Sylvester Sowah into custody for allegedly murdering his partner, Charlotte Obeng—widely known in the community as Biggest Abena—at Obuase Abompe.

Local accounts indicate the pair had engaged in a heated confrontation earlier in the day after Abena reportedly protested Sowah’s incessant marijuana use, insisting it was jeopardizing her health.
Later that night, at about 10 p.m., she was discovered lifeless inside Sowah’s room.

The suspect is believed to have vanished from the area immediately after the incident.

A police manhunt was launched, culminating in his arrest at the Kyekyewere barrier as he allegedly attempted to escape aboard a commercial vehicle headed for an undisclosed destination.

Although Sowah has denied any responsibility for Abena’s death, investigators confirm that inquiries are still underway while he remains in detention.

Authorities are appealing for calm as they work to piece together the events leading to the tragic death of the young woman.
