Ken Ofori Atta has rejected help from the Ghana Embassy in the US.

Yet the Ghana Embassy in Washington, US says they reached out to ICE, where the former finance minister was being detained so they could meet up with him and offer some assistance and also to ensure that he’s being treated fairly but Ken rejected them.

In a statement released by the embassy, and signed by Victor Emmanuel Smith who is Ghana’s ambassador to the US, Ken Ofori Atta declined to meet them at the time and indicated he would only engage with them in the presence of his lawyers.

“The Embassy of Ghana remains in contact with the appropriate United States authorities and will continue to follow the matter closely to ensure that Mr Ofori-Atta’s rights are fully respected,” a part of the statement said.
