Ghanaian rapper Joey B has earned widespread praise after representing the country in the 2025 Hennessy Cypher, the first-ever global edition of the renowned hip-hop showcase.

The project, which brought together six leading artistes from across Africa and the UK, was produced by South African Amapiano pioneer Kabza De Small. The cypher blends hip-hop, Afrobeats, and Amapiano, creating a fresh soundscape for lyrical expression.

Joey B stood out with a performance that seamlessly merged Ghanaian rap sensibilities with the laid-back rhythms of Amapiano. His smooth delivery and effortless flow have drawn acclaim from both fans and industry figures.

Celebrated rapper Sarkodie was among those who applauded Joey B’s performance, remarking on social media: “Glide on em beat like it’s nothing Beezy.” The endorsement from one of Ghana’s most respected hip-hop voices has further amplified the moment.

Media outlets across the continent have highlighted Joey B’s contribution as one of the strongest verses in the cypher, with many describing him as a standout performer. Commentators noted how he not only represented Ghana with distinction but also showcased his versatility on a pan-African stage.

The Hennessy Cypher has long been regarded as a platform for lyrical excellence, and this year’s edition marked a new chapter by uniting different genres and geographies.

For Joey B, his appearance underscores Ghana’s growing influence in Africa’s evolving music landscape and reinforces his position as one of the nation’s most innovative voices.
