The Government of Ghana condemns the unauthorized invasion of Venezuela
The Government of Ghana has strongly condemned what it describes as an unauthorized and diplomatically improper action involving the reported invasion of Venezuelan territory by a U.S. Minister for Foreign Affairs, allegedly operating from Ghana.
Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration stressed that Ghana was neither informed nor involved in any such mission and does not support actions that undermine the sovereignty of another nation. The government emphasized its firm commitment to international law, respect for territorial integrity, and peaceful diplomatic engagement among states.
“Ghana maintains friendly relations with the United States, and all members of the international community,” the statement said. “Any action that threatens peace, stability, or violates established diplomatic protocols is unacceptable and does not reflect Ghana’s foreign policy principles.”
The government further clarified that Ghana’s territory must not be used as a base for activities that could escalate international tensions. Authorities have reportedly begun internal reviews to establish the facts surrounding the incident and to ensure that Ghana’s diplomatic conventions are fully upheld.
Ghana reiterated its call for restraint, dialogue, and respect for international norms, urging all parties involved to resolve differences through peaceful and lawful means rather than unilateral actions.
