Ghana’s Kwaku Ananse-inspired jersey for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been ranked the best jersey among all 48 participating nations by British newspaper The Times.

In its review of World Cup kits ahead of the tournament, The Times placed Ghana’s home shirt at the top of its rankings, ahead of football powerhouses Brazil, England, and Germany, praising the design’s distinctive appearance and visual appeal.

The recognition places Ghana’s jersey above some of the most iconic kits in international football and adds to the growing global attention surrounding the Black Stars ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Ghana kit, produced by sportswear manufacturer Puma, features design elements inspired by the country’s cultural identity and heritage. Since its unveiling, the jersey has attracted positive reactions from supporters both at home and abroad.

The Times’ ranking assessed kits from all 48 nations taking part in the expanded World Cup, which will be the largest in the competition’s history.

Ghana’s away jersey emerged as the publication’s top choice, while Brazil, England and Germany also featured prominently among the best-rated designs.

The recognition continues a tradition of Ghanaian football kits earning international acclaim. Previous Black Stars jerseys have regularly appeared in lists of the world’s most admired football shirts due to their bold designs and strong cultural identity.

Although performances on the pitch will ultimately determine success at the World Cup, the latest ranking gives Ghana an early distinction before the tournament begins.

The Black Stars are among the African nations expected to compete on the global stage as the continent seeks to build on recent progress in international football.

For now, however, Ghana’s colours have already secured a notable victory off the field after being named the world’s best World Cup jersey by The Times.
