Ghanaian-born midfielder Baba Alhassan has been included in Uganda’s national team squad for their upcoming international friendlies against Chad and Morocco, marking what appears to be his first call-up to the Cranes setup.

The talented midfielder, who currently plays for FCSB in the Romanian top flight, has reportedly switched nationality to represent Uganda, the country of his maternal roots.

Although there has been no official confirmation yet from FIFA or the Uganda Football Association (FUFA) on the completion of the nationality switch process, multiple Ugandan sports outlets like Uganda Premier League, have listed Alhassan among the new faces invited by head coach Paul Put for the November fixtures.

Alhassan, 24, was born in Accra, Ghana and began his youth career with Real Valladolid in Spain before moving to Hermannstadt and later FCSB, where his performances have drawn attention across the continent. His invitation comes as part of Paul Put’s push to rebuild Uganda’s midfield options ahead of upcoming qualifiers.

If confirmed, Alhassan’s inclusion would see him join a growing list of diaspora players opting to represent Uganda at the international level.

Uganda will face Chad and Morocco in friendly matches later this month as they continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
