Ghanaian Athletes Reign Supreme in Armwrestling and Sprint Showdowns

Team Ghana extended its remarkable momentum at the inaugural West Africa Zone A & B Para Games in Abeokuta, Nigeria, capturing eight additional medals in Armwrestling and Athletics on Day Four.
Ghana’s Para Armwrestling squad spearheaded the nation’s triumphs, clinching five medals—two glittering golds and three hard-earned bronzes.
Tahiru Haruna reigned supreme in his division, sweeping two gold medals, while Frank Fudzisecured two bronze finishes and Isaac Nii Ayitey added another bronze to the tally.
The track events brought further glory. Addai Hayford stormed to victory in the men’s 100m T46/47 final, clocking an impressive 11.51 seconds to seize gold.
In the women’s race of the same classification, Loriba Monica battled her way to a bronze medal, finishing in 16.17 seconds.
In wheelchair racing, seasoned Paralympian Botsyo Nkegbe delivered a powerful run to claim silver in the men’s T54 100m sprint.
With these achievements, Ghana’s confirmed medal count has climbed to 16, as the contingent continues its aggressive push for more podium finishes in the days ahead.
Later today, the spotlight shifts to wheelchair tennis, where Ghana is already assured of several medal prospects.
Stacy K. Mensah squares off against Nigeria’s Grace in the women’s singles gold medal showdown, while Bridget Nartey battles Nigeria’s Foami for bronze.
In the men’s singles bronze duel, Daniel Laryea faces Razak of Nigeria. Ghana will also vie for honours in both the women’s doubles and men’s doubles finals.
