When Trump stepped onto the stage to claim the honor, Infantino proclaimed, “This belongs to you — this is your peace award,” before adding that a “magnificent medal” accompanied the prize, one he could proudly wear wherever he wished.

The American leader was bestowed with a trophy, a commemorative medal, and an official citation.

FIFA described the Peace Prize as an honour reserved for “figures who advance unity and peace through steadfast dedication and meaningful intervention.”

In a succinct acceptance statement, Trump declared the FIFA Peace Prize to be “one of the greatest distinctions I have ever received.”

He went on to assert that he had “saved millions upon millions of lives — look at the Congo, where over 10 million people had been killed and another catastrophic wave was imminent. India and Pakistan — countless conflicts we helped defuse, in several instances stopping them before they ever ignited.”
