Ghana’s new white ‘Kwaku Ananse’ home jersey will not be worn during the Black Stars’ group stage matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after FIFA confirmed the official kit colour allocations for all opening round fixtures.
The announcement comes days after sportswear manufacturer Puma launched Ghana’s new kits in New York.
The home shirt is inspired by the legendary Ananse spider from West African folklore, with a white base and colourful spider-web patterns symbolising wisdom, creativity and resilience.
Ghana will play in alternative colours in all three Group L matches against Panama, England and Croatia, under FIFA’s match colour designations.
The decision is in line with FIFA kit regulations, which aim to avoid colour clashes and ensure sufficient contrast between the teams in action, including for viewers with colour-vision deficiencies.
The Black Stars kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before meeting England in Boston on June 23.
Ghana will end their group stage campaign against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
