AI deal Ghana signed with a Chinese company

Ghana recently signed an AI partnership with the Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies.

• The deal was announced during Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.
• Ghana’s Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George met with Huawei executives to finalize the partnership.
• Huawei will provide AI training for about 3,000 girls under Ghana’s Girls in ICT Programme.
• The initiative is part of Ghana’s broader $250 million AI and technology development plan.

• Free artificial intelligence training for students.
• Support for Ghana’s One Million Coders Programme.
• Potential development of AI infrastructure, 5G expansion, and technology investment in Ghana.
